I’m a writer in my spare time, which is often the whole time, really. As a teenager in school my history teacher once described me as “a boy with his head in his own imaginary world,” and he wasn’t wrong. I was, for the better part of my time in school, creating a world in the image of Tolkien’s own Arda.
As I’m sure you can imagine it was painfully derivative. I hand wrote several hundred pages of a book that never saw the light of day, but that was the beginning of my writing career in earnest. I wrote every day. I wrote in school, on lunches in work, and in lectures while in university. In my time there I managed to pick up a BA in English Literature, and Greek and Roman Civilisation Studies.
Since then I have become a teacher, dabbled in spoken word poetry, and obsessively took up photography.
